Watercolor Rug
Hand-dyed and handspun by Chamula women who live in the highlands of Chiapas, we created this flatweave rug in collaboration with Madda Studio. Drawing upon founder Maddalena Forcella's roots, we sketched a design using watercolor for Madda Studio to interpret; and elegantly meld her Italian design sensibility with traditional Mexican craftsmanship and materials. Our joint efforts with Madda resulted in a work of beauty produced with a unique combination of natural fibers, dyes, history, culture, and design.
